Showcasing 25 workshop sessions led by some of the most influential and highly regarded industry experts, the 2017 edition of the CWRC delivered topical, insightful and informative presentations for attendees.

The 8th annual Canadian Waste to Resource Conference (CWRC) enjoyed a great turnout and participation during the two-day event on October 25 – 26 at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Showcasing 25 workshop sessions led by some of the most influential and highly regarded industry experts, the 2017 edition of the CWRC delivered topical, insightful and informative presentations for attendees.

Based out of New York, acclaimed author and professor Robin Nagle delivered a compelling presentation, “How to Save the World Every Day: Fundamentals of Waste Management”.

Tej Gidda, Principal ofGHD Limited, (“Mixed Waste Processing:A Tale of Unrequited Love”), Dr. Frida Jones, PhD,RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden (“MSW Management in Sweden – A Century of Choices for the Future”), and keynote speaker Dr. Dianne Saxe, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, (“Beyond the Blue Box: Ontario’s Fresh Start on Waste Diversion and the Circular Economy”) were some of the many renowned speakers at this year’s Conference.

“We were very fortunate to have so many powerful speakers from Canada, the United States and all over the world that joined us this year at CWRC,” said Michele Goulding, Conference Manager and Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) Director of Finance and Member Services. “The feedback from those who spoke and from the many people who attended the sessions was all extremely positive.”

Waste & Recycling Expo Canada Receives High Marks for its 20th Anniversary Edition

If you weren’t among the 2,000+ attendees at the Waste & Recycling Expo/Municipal Equipment Expo held October 25 – 26, in Niagara Falls, ON, you missed out.

Waste & Recycling Expo and Municipal Equipment Expo represent the industry’s most important marketplace where owners, CEOs and managers of waste, recycling, property, truck, fleet, software and other organizations can discover the next innovation to drive their business. With buyers from government officials to environmental managers and road supervisors, this event draws from every province of Canada and more than 15 countries across the globe.

The Waste & Recycling Expo/Municipal Equipment Expo was in full swing for the 20th anniversary edition. The event welcomed 200 exhibitors from seven countries and more than 2,000 visitors from 16 countries for a robust experience of product analysis, business networking and education. Here are a few of the highlights.

New Exhibiting Companies

Among the long-standing participants like Mack, Paradigm, London Machinery, Peterbilt and Machinex, the show was filled with new exhibitors as well, including Hamilton Radiator, Novaquip Lifting Systems, Frontier Fuels, U.S. Gain and SkyHawk Telematics—all showcasing the latest technologies in the Fleet Care Pavilion. Additionally, Refreshtek, Gii Group and 31 other first time exhibiting companies made a strong impact on the exhibit floor with impressive products and services, hands on demonstrations and interactive presentations. “I really enjoyed the show,” said Sylvia Rennie, TESTMARK Laboratories. “It was excellent. It was a wonderful mix of different technologies and services.”

There was an on-floor cocktail reception hosted by the OWMA, which delivered a world-class experience that enabled participants to learn about the latest industry developments and services, have the opportunity to network with colleagues, and also make important business connections.

Opening Gala Reception

Kicking off the show, Canadian Waste to Resource Conference and Waste & Recycling Expo/Municipal Equipment Expo invited all attendees and exhibitors to the Opening Gala Reception at the exquisite Room R5 inside the Fallsview Casino. With an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and a great view of Niagara Falls, reception guests enjoyed the opportunity to connect in a relaxed environment as anticipation for the two days of successful business networking grew.

Expert Presentations

For second time, Waste & Recycling Expo/Municipal Equipment Expo hosted Social Media sessions on the show floor. This added value for attendees and exhibitors alike delivered non-stop, dynamic learning experiences for all to engage and connect with other industry leaders and like-minded individuals. Speaker, Dayton Davis provided expert advice on social media strategies to keep businesses competitive in this age of information.

Mobile App

Both exhibitors and attendees were thrilled to download the mobile app from the show, which offered activities like pre-show planning directly from their mobile devices as well as interact with others who also downloaded the app. Easy to use, the app provided details on exhibitors, directory information, educational opportunities and more. In addition, attendees could create lists for individual agendas, notes and receive show updates in real time.

Educational Program

Amidst a busy show floor, more than 30 educational sessions were being held in the Canadian Waste to Resource Conference, produced by the OWMA . Led by top experts the program offered access to case studies, discussions and solutions to several of today’s challenges.
