Noted experts in the field of solid waste and recycling will open the Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations’ Conference and Trade Show at The Sagamore on May 15 through the 18, 2016.
The conference begins Sunday evening with a BBQ Buffet and opening of the Trade Show (featuring over 100 exhibitors) – followed by fireworks over Lake George. For the first time, the technical portion of the conference will kick off Sunday with a workshop on Pay as You Throw best practices and strategies for success. Speakers from across the nation will be presenting the latest on waste and recycling issues, materials management, new technology and recent legislation throughout 30 panels over two and a half days. “Our Technical Program boasts nearly 100 leading waste and recycling industry professionals and decision-makers. Last year over 600 attendees from 30 plus states attended the conference, coming together to share best practices and network with industry leaders.” says Meg Morris, Chair of the Federation. “We are grateful to the incredible experts that continue to support this event and share their knowledge with attendees.”

Topics include updates on New York State extended producer responsibility, biogas, waste diversion, single stream recycling, organics and composting, mixed waste processing, and Pay as You Throw funding. Other topics of interest include Waste to Energy, leachate treatment, C&D handling, geosynthetics, stormwater, and other landfill operations issues. Since 2000, the Conference and Trade Show has been held at The Sagamore, a historic four-diamond resort on Lake George. One of New York’s landmark hotels, The Sagamore is situated on its own 80-acre island and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations is the umbrella organization for the NYS Association for Reduction, Reuse & Recycling, the NYS Association for Solid Waste Management, and the Solid Waste Association of North America – NYS Chapter.
