Months after Allenstown voted to eliminate curbside trash pickup and stop accepting solid waste at the transfer station, the town is exploring a 90-day pilot program to reintroduce town-wide waste collection.
If the town goes that route, the cost won鈥檛 be covered by taxes. Instead, the vendor would collect payment directly from residents. Scott McDonald, select board chair, said the initiative comes in response to some residents voicing interest in bringing back collection options.
Under the pilot program, residents will be able to dispose of their trash using a 鈥減ay-as-you-throw鈥澛� model similar to Concord鈥檚 system. Waste would be accepted at the Allenstown Transfer Station, located at 161 Granite St., once a week on Saturdays.
