The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) has been reaccredited to serve as the secretariat for Z245 standards for equipment, technology and operations for the waste and recyclable industry. 聽NWRA and its predecessor organizations have served in this role since 1972. As the secretariat, NWRA governs the process for all stakeholders, including its members and manufacturers, for participation in the development of ANSI standards. 鈥淥ne of our core missions in helping to move our industry forward is the vital role we play as ANSI secretariat,鈥� commented Sharon H. Kneiss, NWRA president and chief executive officer. 鈥淭his important role facilitates turning innovation into reality, and the work of the secretariat and all of its participants directly impacts efforts to improve safety for our workers and for the communities they proudly serve everyday.鈥�
ANSI鈥檚 official designation names NWRA as 鈥渁n ANSI accredited standards developer and organizational member representing waste and recycling companies throughout the United States involved in the collection of waste, recyclables, organics and composting, and the production of waste-based energy. NWRA provides leadership, advocacy, research, education, and safety expertise to the waste and recycling industries while promoting economically sustainable and environmentally sound services.鈥� NWRA was notified in late September that it successfully completed the reaccreditation process.
