Biomedical Waste Services, Inc. announces the promotion of Trey Krell to Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. This transition marks a new chapter for the company as founder and President Ray Krell steps into retirement after more than five decades of dedicated service to the medical waste management industry.
In his new role as CEO, Trey will lead the company’s strategic vision, continuing BWS’s commitment to innovation, environmental sustainability, and exceptional customer service while driving expansion throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He will oversee all aspects of the business, building upon the strong foundation established during his tenure as Vice President.
Since his promotion to Vice President in 2021, Trey has been instrumental in BWS’s continued growth and operational excellence. Under his leadership, the company has implemented cutting-edge technology including the recent installation of a reusable sharps container robotic decanter and automated container washer/sterilization line. These innovations further BWS’s position as an industry leader in sustainable waste management solutions.
“After 50 years of building this company from the ground up, I couldn’t be more confident in Trey’s ability to lead the team into its next chapter,” said Ray Krell, Founder and retiring President. “Trey has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication, and innovative thinking necessary to not only maintain our high standards but to elevate them. Our customers, employees, and community are in excellent hands.”
Trey’s leadership has been pivotal in BWS’s recent achievements, including the expansion of service offerings, implementation of advanced waste processing technology, and strengthening of the company’s environmental sustainability initiatives. His focus on operational efficiency and customer service excellence has helped BWS maintain its position as one of the few privately held medical waste management companies in the mid-Atlantic region.
“I am deeply honored to assume this leadership role and continue the legacy my father built over five decades,” said Trey Krell, newly appointed CEO. “Ray’s vision and commitment to safety, innovation, and community service have created a strong foundation. I’m excited to build upon that foundation while leading our phenomenal team toward new opportunities for growth and service excellence. Our focus remains on providing reliable, compliant, and sustainable solutions for our customers while continuing to innovate in this critical industry.”
