The City of Cedar Rapids Solid Waste and Recycling Division will began using four trucks in newly wrapped artwork in May. Residents can expect to see these trucks showing off work from local high school artists in the coming weeks.
In late 2024, the City of Cedar Rapids released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to area schools seeking artwork focused on sustainable neighborhoods to be placed on garbage and recycling trucks. Each design reflects the artist鈥檚 view of the creativity and spirit of our community.
The City鈥檚 selection committee worked in cooperation with the Public Art Commission to select a total of four (4) artists whose work was eye-catching and appealing, while also meeting goals outlined in the RFP. The artwork is currently being installed on selected trucks. One will be on display at EcoFest at NewBo City Market on Saturday, April 26 from 10 AM 鈥� 3 PM.
