The Delaware Solid Waste Authority says it’s making improvements to its recycling drop-off program… by cutting the number of locations. It’s part of a strategy to collect recyclables only at facilities on DSWA properties. 聽Drop-off centers have been in operation since 1990.
“What started to change, I would say about two years ago, is we started to see more and more trash inside the bins, where the recycling goes,” DSWA’s Michael Parkowski said on The Susan Monday Show. Parkowski added that the Delaware Solid Waste Authority will be reducing the number of drop-off locations during 2017, but those that are left will be able to also collect electronics, household batteries, used oil and oil filters as well as Stryofoam.
One such facility will be located at the Jones Crossroads Landfill in Georgetown. “Among our centers, we’re going to have four sites of the 13 that we picked out strategically to be expanded service centers. These are going to add some services that we don’t currently have,” Parkowski said.
