ecoATM, electronics recycling trailblazer, has been selected for the honor of the Sustainability in the Food Industry Award by the Shelby Report. This award highlights innovators who are leading the way toward a greener future in food retail, production, and distribution.

ecoATM was founded to help address the growing e-waste challenge. ecoATM kiosks leverage technology to offer consumers an easy, safe, secure and convenient place to sell their used smartphones in exchange for cash. When a consumer sells their phone to an ecoATM, they’re recycling their device responsibly or giving their used phone a second life through refurbishment and resale.

“ecoATM is honored and humbled to be recognized for our service by The Shelby Report,” Neil Fried, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development said. “Our mission is to help reduce the amount of electronic waste that enters our environment. Personal electronics, like mobile phones, tablets, and MP3 players, contain toxic and hazardous materials. These include arsenic, lead, and mercury, which are all very harmful to human and environmental health. The improper disposal of these devices creates e-waste, which can pose a threat to the environment and the health of ourselves and loved ones.”

Reinforcing this awards’ mission to recognize companies working toward a greener future, ecoATM recently achieved the milestone of over 50 million devices collected in 2024. For environmental impact, this is equivalent to over 25 million pounds of e-waste eliminated, as well as the prevention of thousands of toxic materials like arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury from leaking into our land and water.
