Cambridge Companies, waste facility design-build experts based in Griffith, IN, completed construction of the Germann Road Transfer Station in Chandler, AZ this month. 聽Cambridge Companies鈥 extensive experience building waste facilities over the past 20 years makes them an optimal choice for this project. The Germann Road Transfer Station is owned and operated by Republic Services. 聽The new transfer station has the capacity to process more than 420 tons of waste per day to serve Apache Junction, Gilbert Mesa, Phoenix, Pinal County, Queen Creek, and Tempe communities in Arizona.
Construction for the Germann Road Transfer Station began in March 2014. 聽The goal for this facility has been to create a central location for collection trucks, decreasing the carbon emissions of transporting trash great distances to other disposal facilities. 聽Diesel fuel consumption for approximately 4,000 collection trucks is expected to be reduced by 120,000 gallons in 2015. 聽Jeff Eriks, Chief Business Development Officer at Cambridge Companies, said, 鈥淐ambridge is happy to have been a part of this project and the benefits that the region will experience from the Germann Road Transfer Station build.鈥 聽Republic Services representatives have provided EPA carbon emissions reduction information, stating the carbon emission reduction is equivalent to preserving more than 870 acres of U.S. forest land or introducing nearly 28,000 mature trees into the local environment annually. 聽Cambridge Companies has worked with Republic Services to build waste management facilities for over 20 years. 聽The Germann Road Transfer Station is one of over 100 facilities Cambridge has constructed across the United States.
