Hainesport Transportation Group (HTG), a leading waste logistics company, has announced a significant capital investment in Gallatin to establish Tennessee鈥檚 first permitted outbound rail-served waste transfer operation. Known as Gallatin Transfer, the facility will be located off Airport Road with direct rail access, allowing the company to move 100% of construction and demolition (C&D) material out of state by railcar.

鈥淩ail offers a long-term solution for managing solid waste in a rapidly growing region,鈥 said Patrick Dauria, Vice President and General Manager of Waste Disposal for HTG. 鈥淏y moving C&D material by rail, we can help reduce the burden on municipal landfills, ease commercial traffic on local roads, and provide a service that meets the needs of Middle Tennessee residents and small businesses.鈥

Gallatin Transfer represents a first-of-its-kind operation in Middle Tennessee, a region experiencing increased construction that has long depended on commercial trucking for material disposal. Each outbound railcar is expected to replace four to six commercial tractor-trailers, easing traffic congestion, limiting road wear, and reducing the volume and compaction strain on municipal landfills.

鈥淕allatin鈥檚 ability to attract innovative companies like this speaks to our strengths as a regional hub for logistics and distribution,鈥 said Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown. 鈥淲e are proud to welcome HTG to our community as they bring long-term benefits to both residents and businesses across our region.鈥

The outbound rail transfer service is expected to be fully operational in early 2026. The rail upgrades will also allow HTG to provide expanded access for neighboring industrial companies, enhancing connectivity and logistics options in the area. In addition to handling everyday C&D waste, Gallatin Transfer will have the capacity to process debris generated by natural disasters, providing the region with a critical resource during emergency response recovery efforts.

鈥淕allatin Transfer reflects the confidence companies place in Gallatin as a strategic location to do business,鈥 said Rosemary Bates, Executive Director of the Gallatin Economic Development Agency. 鈥淗TG鈥檚 operations not only enhance our distribution infrastructure, but reinforce Gallatin鈥檚 role as a city where industry can invest, innovate and succeed.鈥
