West DuPage Recycling & Transfer, Inc, a pioneer in the construction and demolition recycling industry, is pleased to announce that it has been granted certification from the Recycling Certification Institute. Located in DuPage County, WDRT is an Illinois EPA permitted facility than has been a part of the Hoving Affiliated Companies since 1999. The facility has earned a reputation in the greater Chicago area for its innovation in C & D recycling, and has consistently achieved a recycling rate of greater than 75% since operations began. The Recycling Certification Institute oversees a national certification program to ensure integrity, transparency and accuracy in the recovery and recycling reports of participating C & D facilities. They have a rigorous evaluation process which details the activities conducted in the recycling facility and verifies the recovery results. The Institute uses a comprehensive process for developing its protocols. Its primary focus is on accurate recycling accounting to ensure that the recovery and recycling reports issued by certified facilities are real, verifiable and reproducible.
This is the first RCI certification of a C & D facility in the greater Chicago area and only the seventh facility in the entire United States to be certified. This accomplishment reflects WDRT’s commitment to being an industry leader.
Customers using a RCI certified facility can be confident that their waste stream is being processed in the most environmentally responsible and cost advantageous way possible. Additionally, builders using an RCI certified facility are eligible to receive 1 extra point towards LEED v4 certification from the U. S. Green Building Council. WDRT is also pleased to announce that after three months of restricted operations (due to the disassembly and reassembly of the sorting line) it will be moving to a new facility in West Chicago, located at 1655 Powis Road. This new facility which is also permitted by the IEPA will effectively quadruple the usable area and allow up to 1,250 tons per day of material to be processed. WDRT is one of the Hoving Affiliated Companies, which also includes K. Hoving Recycling & Disposal, Inc, Hoving Pit Stop, Inc, Hoving Clean Sweep, LLC and Storage on Site, LLC.
