Liberty Tire Recycling announced that its employees and partners raised $132,785 in 2025 to support Blessings in a Backpack, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting childhood hunger by providing food on weekends to school-aged children who might otherwise go hungry. This marks the second year of Liberty’s partnership with Blessings in a Backpack. With each contribution, Liberty is helping ensure that children across America have access to nutritious meals outside of school hours. Just $175 feeds a child every weekend of the school year, meaning Liberty’s support translates into thousands of hunger-free weekends for kids in need.
“At Liberty, we believe that being a good corporate citizen means giving back to the communities where we live and work. Supporting Blessings in a Backpack is especially meaningful because it addresses such a critical need — ensuring children don’t go hungry over the weekend.” said Thomas Womble, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling. “We are proud of our employees who have stepped up with generosity, compassion, and energy, and we look forward to continuing this important work together.”
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Liberty Tire Recycling into its second year and remain incredibly grateful for their generous support. Their commitment to our mission and the kids we serve has been nothing short of extraordinary. Liberty’s efforts have made a lasting impact — not only through their contributions but through the incredible energy and compassion of their employees. We truly love working with this amazing team and are excited to see what we can accomplish together in the years ahead,” said Alexis Hartman, Manager of Corporate Partnerships at Blessings in a Backpack.
When considering how best to support its communities, Liberty asked its employees what mattered most—and the message was clear: focus on children and address hunger. Blessings in a Backpack was a natural fit. With Blessings in a Backpack program nationwide and more than 50 Liberty facilities across the country, many employees were already familiar with the charity’s impact in their own communities — making it a meaningful way for Liberty to give back where our people live and work.
In 2024, Liberty launched the partnership, raising $87,000 and hosting backpack-packing events at sites across the country. This year, Liberty built on that commitment, raising nearly 40 percent more and preparing to pack more than 4,500 backpacks at four locations in October—providing thousands of hunger-free weekends for children in need.
