The City of Longview recently changed its curbside recycling schedule. They faced an increased fee from their recycling facility over load contamination.聽Todd Lucas is the general manager of the Northeast Texas Regional MRF, materials recovery facility.
The City of Longview鈥檚 recycling trucks have been coming here for several months now. 鈥淲e were expecting contamination levels to be high, and they were,鈥� said Lucas.
Piles of garbage come out of the recycling trucks, filled with items that shouldn鈥檛 have been in there in the first place. Lucas says the number one mistake are plastic bags. 鈥淭hat goes straight to the landfill here,鈥� said Lucas.
