At WasteExpo 2025 in Las Vegas, FireDos launched its coupled system, which comprises IR early detection cameras from Orglmeister Infrared Systems and their in-house developed automated extinguishing monitors. This pairing represents the first fully autonomous detection and extinguishing system in North America. The main objective is to detect and extinguish fires at a very early stage and to tackle them in a targeted manner with contained use of extinguishing agents. This is achieved by heat detection through thermal imaging, using infrared (IR) detection technology. In contrast to detecting smoke or a fire, the environment is monitored for radiated heat. By continuously monitoring a specific point or area and measuring the actual radiated heat and increase in temperature, fires can be detected in their incipient phase, even if they have not yet developed a visual flame. The detection system pinpoints a hotspot or a flame and relays the coordinates to a remote-controlled monitor, which then accurately directs water or foam to the exact location. A pre-programmed spray pattern may be used, and the fire monitor can be automatically turned off after a defined extinguishing time. The hotspot detection will continue and restart the extinguishing process when and where necessary.
