The American Reliability & Maintenance Institute (ARMI) is launching a new training program designed to help maintenance teams easily get actionable, insightful results from their data. The Certified Maintenance Data Analyst (CMDA) course will debut June 24-27, 2025, at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, giving maintenance and reliability professionals the tools to cut downtime, improve equipment reliability, and make smarter, data-driven decisions that move their operations forward.
Designed for asset managers, CMMS administrators, reliability engineers, planners/schedulers, and anyone responsible for tracking or improving maintenance performance, this four-day course teaches participants how to transform their raw data into immediate results. 鈥淢ost teams collect mountains of maintenance data but don鈥檛 know how to actually use it,鈥 said Justin Smith, ARMI co-founder and instructor. 鈥淭he CMDA program shows you how to connect the dots and uncover what鈥檚 working, what鈥檚 wasting time, and how to fix it. It鈥檚 about using the numbers you already have to make your operation run better.鈥
Here鈥檚 what attendees will walk away with:
- A clear understanding of KPIs, maintenance metrics, and which ones actually matter
- The ability to analyze trends using pivot tables, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and root cause analysis
- Data visualization and reporting skills to communicate maintenance insights to leadership
- Smarter preventative maintenance (PM) strategies that cut unnecessary work and reduce failures
- A framework for making data-backed decisions on labor, asset replacement, and scheduling
Participants can opt to enroll in the course only or take their training to the next level by earning their Certified Maintenance Data Analyst (CMDA) credential 鈥 a new certification designed specifically for professionals working with maintenance data. 鈥淭his course and certification were designed with real teams in mind,鈥 said Dr. John Ross, ARMI co-founder and veteran reliability educator. 鈥淲e make complex topics approachable, and the instruction is rooted in practical application. Students walk away with tools they can start using immediately to strengthen their operations, elevate their skill sets, and deliver measurable improvements back on the job.鈥
Whether you鈥檙e managing a fleet, running a plant, or supporting field operations, the CMDA training program offers a powerful way to unlock the value of your existing data and put it to work.
