Circular Philadelphia has launched an interactive new tool to help users find donation and recycling sites throughout the city, that is being funded by a $20,000 grant from the Green Family Foundation, writes Sarah Huffman for Technical.ly. The new tool, ResourcePhilly, aims to reduce waste in Philadelphia by helping residents find responsible drop-off locations for hard-to-recycle items.

鈥淲e have the opportunity to reach a much broader segment of the population in the Philadelphia region, and help them with finding better opportunities to manage their waste,鈥 said Samantha Wittchen, interim executive director of Circular Philadelphia. The initiative grew out of a database maintained by the Resource Exchange for the last decade. It included a spreadsheet and a physical map that showed locations around Philadelphia where people could drop off unwanted items.

The new tool, developed by the Urality software company, offers users the ability to search for places where they can donate or recycle their unwanted items. It also allows them to browse listings of secondhand goods being offered for sale by others.
