Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) is pleased to announce that Shane Buckingham has joined our team as Director of Communications. With more than eight years of experience working as a journalist and an advisor in federal and provincial politics, Shane brings unique political insight and a strong writing background to our Association. At Queen艗s Park, Shane worked with MPPs Michael Harris and Lisa Thompson to develop the Ontario PCs艗 waste management policies and provided strategic advice to the Opposition Leader艗s Office in response to Bill 151, the Waste-Free Ontario Act. Shane聽knows OWMA艗s issues well and has the experience needed to build up and launch new efforts to effectively communicate the priorities of our members to government, industry and the public. In his role as Director of Communications, Shane will work closely with Peter Hargreave to ensure your voice is heard on the key issues, including the development of new regulations under the Waste-Free Ontario Act, navigating Ontario艗s new cap-and-trade system and strengthening safety laws to protect waste collection workers.
