Circular Action Alliance (CAA), in collaboration with Recology, launched the nation’s first Center in Ashland, Oregon — a free, producer-funded drop-off site for tricky-to-sort materials like plastic bags, lids, plastic package handles, buckets, shredded paper, and foil. The event marked the start of a statewide rollout of more than 140 sites.

What are RecycleOn Centers?
RecycleOn Centers are a new network of convenient free, drop-off locations that make recycling simpler and more consistent across the state. These sites collect packaging and paper materials that can’t go in recycling bins at home or work because they jam machinery or contaminate other recyclables. Funded by the brands that make packaging and paper products, RecycleOn shifts recycling costs away from local governments and residents — a first-of-its-kind model in the U.S.

Why it matters:

  • First of its kind in the U.S., setting a model for producer-funded recycling.

  • Expands access and reduces contamination in Oregon’s new statewide recycling system.

  • Demonstrates how EPR (extended producer responsibility) can deliver real community benefit.
