The City is preparing to spend up to $375,000 to purchase 7,000 new automated refuse containers from Toter LLC, extending a 30-year partnership aimed at keeping the city鈥檚 waste collection system efficient and reliable.
The Department of Public Works has recommended that the City Council authorize City Manager Miguel M谩rquez to enter into the contract, which will supply the city with 32, 64, and 96-gallon containers used in Pasadena鈥檚 鈥淧ay as You Throw鈥 residential refuse聽collection聽program.
Since 1993, Pasadena has purchased its refuse containers exclusively from Toter, the only manufacturer producing rotationally molded containers that meet the city鈥檚 fabrication standards. Approximately 90,000 containers are currently in use across Pasadena neighborhoods, with many still serving residents after nearly聽two聽decades.
