The City of Pensacola announces the reinstatement of its curbside recycling program, made possible through a strategic partnership with The Recycling Partnership. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the city鈥檚 commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management.

After a period of program suspension, the City of Pensacola has worked diligently to identify and implement sustainable solutions for its residents. The city applied for and received a grant from The Recycling Partnership, a purpose-driven organization committed to building a better recycling system that delivers economic and environmental benefits for communities and the industry. Pensacola was selected to receive grant support because of its dedication to reinstating recycling in the community. The grant from The Partnership, with support from the American Beverage Association鈥檚 鈥淓very Bottle Back鈥 initiative and the Florida Beverage Association, will bring expertise, resources, and best practices to ensure a successful and efficient recycling program.

鈥淲e have always recognized the importance of recycling to our community and the environment,鈥 said Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves. 鈥淭his collaboration with The Recycling Partnership will bring back a robust and effective recycling program that will empower our residents to make a positive impact.鈥

The revitalized recycling program will focus on:

  • Enhanced Education and Outreach: Providing clear and consistent information to residents about what can and cannot be recycled.
  • Improved Infrastructure: Upgrading collection and processing systems to maximize efficiency and minimize contamination.
  • Increased Participation: Encouraging residents to actively participate in the program and contribute to a cleaner, greener Pensacola.
