A local company is giving glass recyclables a new life through crafting unique and one-of-a-kind countertops. As a waste hauler, Fisher Recycling takes glass collected from restaurants, hotels, and Dorchester County鈥檚 convenience sites. The collected bottles are then culled for 鈥渁ll the pretty colors,鈥 according to owner Elizabeth Fisher.

At their warehouse in North Charleston, the bottles are then crushed into small pieces, which will be placed in the new surfaces through their product line 鈥淕lassEco鈥. 鈥淥nce we get the colors that we want, we bring clients in and they select their designs,鈥 Fisher said. 鈥淵ou can recreate your own design, or you can say 鈥業 love this one鈥.鈥

Once a design is selected, the glass can be placed in a concrete or resin mold, which will harden and create one-of-a-kind countertops or surfaces. The remainder of the collected glass is sent to a glass recycler in Atlanta.
