The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has launched a new recycling pilot program at the Ohio State Fair, aiming to reduce the amount of bottles and cans ending up in landfills.

The initiative, developed in partnership with the Ohio Expo Center, places 100 recycling bins in the most heavily trafficked areas of the fairgrounds: the Celeste Center and the Bricker Building.

Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Director John Logue said the agency hopes the bins encourage people to recycle without adding extra effort. 鈥淲hat we鈥檙e trying to do is reduce the amount of waste going to landfills, trying to gather as much as we can to be recycled. Once those goods are recycled, they鈥檙e put back into the state鈥檚 economy in a number of different ways,鈥 Logue said.
