Reworld™ participated in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Drug Take Back Day on October 25, with the goal of making medication disposal simple and accessible for the public. Reworld™ hosted collection sites in Fairfax County, VA and Hempstead, NY, with the support of local law enforcement. Reworld™ is safely and securely disposing of the communities’ expired or unused prescription medications through a high-temperature, environmentally responsible process at its Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities (TTFs).
“National Drug Take Back Day demonstrates the power of communities and industry coming together for public good,” said Dave Cali, Senior Director of Security & DEA Compliance, Reworld™. “Every collection helps keep our neighborhoods safer and our environment cleaner. We’re proud to support this initiative locally and nationwide.”
At the events, Reworld™ representatives helped educate community members about the importance of safe and sustainable medication disposal. To further promote responsible year-round disposal, the company also donated approximately 100 mail-back envelopes, offering a convenient option for ongoing safe medication management for those unable to bring their medications on the day. On October 25, Reworld™ collected over 2,000 pounds of unwanted medications between sites in Fairfax County, VA and Hempstead, NY.
