Swiftdrain, a leading distributor of trench drain systems, recently played a key role in the CP2 Tunnel and Track BART Extension project by delivering a critical drainage solution. This major infrastructure project is part of the ongoing Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) expansion and was carried out in collaboration with renowned construction firms Kiewit, J.F. Shea Construction, and Traylor. Also known as the Kiewit Shea Traylor JV. Swiftdrain’s system was specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of this project, ensuring durability and performance in high-traffic, heavy-load areas.

A Major Infrastructure Milestone

The CP2 Tunnel and Track Extension is an important step in expanding the BART network, improving transit options for the Bay Area’s growing population. As with any tunnel or rail project, water management is essential to maintaining the safety and longevity of the infrastructure. Proper drainage systems help prevent water buildup, which can weaken the structure over time and affect rail performance.

Kiewit Construction, one of the key contractors, chose Swiftdrain for its specialized drainage solution. Swiftdrain supplied a 150-foot stretch of heavy-duty precast concrete trench drains, complete with Class E ductile iron grates, designed to meet the specific needs of the project.

Swiftdrain’s trench drains are built to last, capable of withstanding heavy vehicle loads, making them ideal for high-stress projects like the BART extension. The Class E ductile iron grates offer exceptional strength while maintaining a clean, functional design.

This collaboration underscores Swiftdrain’s reputation as a trusted partner in large-scale infrastructure projects, providing reliable and innovative drainage solutions. By delivering high-quality products for the CP2 BART extension, Swiftdrain has once again proven its commitment to excellence in rail infrastructure development.
