Chaffee County recently held another community-wide electronics recycling event. In total during 2025, these events have diverted a combined 40,000 pounds of electronic waste from the landfill. Held on Saturday, September 27, in Buena Vista (BV). 168 cars dropped off a total of 12,474 pounds of electronics. An e-waste collection last spring amassed over 25,000 pounds at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds in May.
The northern county event was sponsored by the Town of BV, and conducted in partnership with the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA). Organizers noted that the use of the BV Public Works Facility located at 755 Gregg Drive made for easy access and unloading of the electronics.
Chaffee County Commissioner Gina Lucrezi, BV Public Works Director Shawn Williams, and GARNA’s new Sustainability Coordinator Josie Pearson all helped at the event. In addition, a big thank you was given to the other volunteers who greeted and unloaded the many vehicles that day.
