The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) developed a Top 10 Backing Best Management Practices Toolkit in January. Flyer and poster versions of the guide are now available in Spanish. The Top 10 Backing Best Management Practices flyer and poster were included as part of a collection of resources for Safety Stand Down on Backing Week. The flyer and poster provides tips that local governments and waste haulers can use to stay safe on the job. Young Professionals (YPs) from SWANA鈥檚 Caribbean-Puerto Rico chapter took the lead in producing the flyer and poster in Spanish. With these educational tools being available in Spanish, it allows SWANA to reach a larger audience and continue to provide tips towards creating a safer industry. SWANA Caribbean-Puerto Rico Chapter Representative and Young Professional Committee Member Hanna Rodriguez said, 鈥淭he opportunity to have these materials in Spanish, allows our chapters and members to share this valuable safety information with important sectors.鈥� She added, 鈥淪WANA Puerto Rico is lucky to have motivated YPs, like Olmar Lopez Vidal and Nedilys Diaz, who are able to provide assistance in making this happen.鈥�
