NuTerra, a designer, builder, and provider of services based on proprietary financial and risk analysis models that help municipalities address capital and operating changes, today announced that Lorrie Loder is its new director of facilities operations and will be responsible for the operation of the company鈥檚 expanding regional composting hubs based in Florida. NuTerra President and CEO Aaron Zahn said, 鈥淟orrie鈥檚 extensive communications, compliance, operational, and marketing experience in the biosolids, compost and organics industry provides strong management capabilities for the complex issues surrounding compost operations. Her expertise and industry leadership makes her an ideal team member for helping us meet the demand for composting operations that address diminishing disposal outlets and landfill capacity, increasing environmental regulations, and rising energy costs.鈥

The U.S. Composting Council president and chair was most recently senior director of technical services at Synagro Technologies, where she was responsible for public relations, regulatory permitting, and compliance for their nationwide land application program. Over the past 16 years, she also held a number of leadership positions at the company in the areas of compost product marketing, compost facility environmental compliance, and regulatory affairs and public relations. Loder鈥檚 extensive involvement with a federally permitted (Title V) compost facility provided her the opportunity to co-author a compost air emission study, 鈥淎ssessing Air Emissions of VOCs, Ammonia, Fixed Gases, and Siloxanes from Biofilters at Compost Facilities Using the SCAQMD Modified — USEPA Surface Flux Chamber Technology鈥 which was presented at the 2010 Air and Waste Management Association Annual Conference and published in BioCycle Magazine in 2012. She has presented 鈥淐omponents for Successful Compost Facility Operations鈥 at several industry conferences and will speak at the U.S. Composting Council next month.
