听Back by popular demand, Waste Advantage announces that it will be holding two FREE Virtual Safety Webinars in the fall. The first, held October 9 from 2:00 – 3:15pm ET, will focus on Post-Collection Safety, while the second webinar focusing on Collection Safety will take place December 4 from 2:00 – 3:15pm ET.听
The Bureau of Labor Statistics 2024 report released data on the most dangerous jobs in the U.S. and it was revealed that solid waste collection workers rose from 7th to 4th on the list. To have a serious discussion about safety in the waste and recycling industry, Waste Advantage held Virtual Safety Summit in March 2025 with great success. The event attracted more than 800 registrants and over 500 attendees, including representatives from all of the largest solid waste companies in the U.S.
All solid waste and recycling employers鈥攆rom large national firms and major regional operators to small haulers, municipal sanitation departments鈥攆ace common safety challenges. However, workers at smaller collection companies and municipal operations are disproportionately at risk of fatal incidents on the route or accidents at disposal facilities.
Now, these Webinars, focusing on Post-Collection and Collection Safety, provide actionable tools and information to reduce improper behavior that contributes to fatalities, injuries, and collisions. The Webinar focusing on Post-Collection Safety will highlight landfill safety, fire safety, and lockout/tagout. It will go beyond best practices and provide actionable tools and information to reduce improper behavior that contributes to fatalities and injuries.听
鈥淲aste Advantage is excited once again to hold these virtual webinars on October 9 and December 4. Having these important meetings on safety are never done. It is one of the most important issues in the waste and recycling industry and it is imperative that we have ongoing discussions on what can be done to address safety issues. By splitting it into two separate events鈥攃ollection and post-collection鈥攊t allows for more focus on each subject, thereby allowing for a more in-depth discussion of certain topics. We are proud to feature key experts talking about safety issues that affect everyone. We want attendees to come away with real solutions they can take back to their organizations,鈥 said Angelina Ruiz, Publisher of Waste Advantage.听
