Among Cassandra Pigg鈥檚 many titles, including wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, is Office Manager of Waste Pro鈥檚 Meridian, Mississippi Division. Getting to know Cassandra, you would soon realize it’s her bubbly personality and can-do attitude that make her the perfect fit for the multiple roles and responsibilities she navigates.

Cassandra began her professional career at just 18 years old, working as a temporary office assistant, taking on whatever tasks needed to be done. She worked for a plumbing company for 12 years as an office manager and then spent over 10 years at a local country club in Mississippi before finding her way to Waste Pro. She began her career at Waste Pro answering phones and assisting with customer service. Cassandra quickly caught on, and within days, she was learning the language and details of the solid waste and recycling industry. As she explains, 鈥淎 lack of industry experience did not deter me from embracing my pleasant nature. I told myself, I will learn as I go.鈥 When she started, she was working with then-Office Manager Anna Joyner and credits Anna with playing a key role in providing her with learning opportunities in various areas of business, including accounting and operations. In May 2017, Anna transitioned to the regional level in administration, leaving the Division Office Manager position open. Cassandra was recommended for the position and has been in the role ever since. She shared that the first two years were hard, since she took the responsibilities to heart and wanted to be successful. Cassandra has since found her groove and is integral to the success of the Meridian Division.

As Waste Pro and the Meridian Division experienced significant growth over the last few years, Cassandra’s role as Office Manager evolved in tandem. She played a pivotal role by taking on additional responsibilities and adapting to the company’s changing needs. She appreciates the more corporate feel of the company now, while still maintaining the personal touch of a family-owned business.

Throughout her roles over the years, she has handled all aspects of account management, from start to finish, including residential, commercial, and construction projects. Just last year, she served as the primary contact and on-site production coordinator for a series of public-facing video presentations designed to inform customers about their services. Her pride in the well-received video presentations, which highlight Waste Pro鈥檚 residential, commercial, and construction services, is a testament to her dedication and contributions to the company’s success. She tries to lend a hand where needed and is always smiling and kind to her team. She shared that she loves the accounting aspect of her role the most, as that was the career path she initially wanted, but sees her role now as so much more. This December marks 14 years with the company.

鈥淓veryone is always kind, patient, and happy to share their experiences. That is why I have stayed so long and truly feel that Waste Pro is a unique company. We are family first, and I try to live up to the high standards the company sets. My door is always open, and if someone needs an ear or shoulder, I want to be there for my team,鈥 she shared. And family means the most to Cassandra. As a mother, she has watched her two daughters grow and thrive, one of whom now works with her at Waste Pro as a residential dispatcher and customer service representative. She remarried nine years ago and has two bonus children. She is also a grandmother to three grandchildren, Raylan and Meredith, from her daughter Lexi, and Sam, the son of her daughter Chloe, who all call her Sassy. She credits the strong women who raised her with instilling in her a sense of drive and determination. 鈥淢y mom and aunt were strong-willed and gave me a strong sense of self and a drive to push through life鈥檚 obstacles to get the job done.鈥
