Ecobat, a global leader in lead and lithium battery recycling, became the first company to have recycled polypropylene certified in accordance with UL 94 and to have achieved the highest possible requirement under the V0 standard. The certificate, called Yellow Card, authorizes Ecobat to offer the innovative plastic compound Seculene庐 as a flame retardant material for the electrical and automotive industries.
This is possible thanks to an additive from the specialty chemicals company Budenheim. Ecobat uses a solution from the BUDIT庐 6 series that meets the highest technical requirements of the compound. What makes it special: BUDIT庐 667 is a halogen-free, intumescent flame retardant that forms a foamed, charred layer on the surface in the event of a fire. This prevents the supply of air to the combustible material and the release of toxic combustion gases. As a result, fuel is no longer supplied to the fire and it cannot spread any further. The resulting foam provides additional thermal insulation.
The highlight: With the compound, Ecobat produces a secondary material that replaces primary polyamide in a resource-saving way.
The advantages for the customer: The secondary plastic not only saves CO2, but also costs. The PP compound is already being used in batteries for e-bikes. Here, the individual modules are installed between a honeycomb-like mesh made of the PP compound. The automotive industry already has the innovative sustainable plastic on its radar: Seculene庐 was one of the 25 鈥淧roducts to Watch鈥� at the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) in Wolfsburg, Germany.
